This is something that a friend said after we attended one of the
biggest events this year
He made a conclusion in the end that – in the two past couple of years –
people come to events for no more than 3 reason:
1 - Waste time (because they are bored)
2 - Win prizes (if there is any)
3 - Eat food …
We have came to a degree where IT events are more like shows where some
IT clowns spread their stupid ideas or their minor contributions (or just for
show of and this is the big FUCK)
A degree where - what called communities – don’t have even one project
(technical or not)
The problem is that people run after e-fame and forget the whole meaning
of open communities and open events
And because of that open opportunities are not open anymore because of
the absence of sharing (if you have confidence that you’re the best in your
field why the fear of sharing opportunities with people because if you are
really the best you have to be sure that no one can beat you and you are sure
also that no one deserve those opportunities like you)
A final conclusion is that we have come to a point where we need to
review what we are doing? What is the whole point from what we are organizing?
Are there really people that will benefice from it? And not just throw in the
air money and efforts in an event with no more than 20 person audience 50% of
them don’t understand a shit about what is going on in the event
